OH and some other great news!
My older sis finally got an account! YAYAYAYAYAYA!
Ryo just got dumped by his girlfriend of 5 years due to her cheating. Feeling heartbroken he decides to go to a bar/club and drink away his misery. With his friend Yamashita, the club’s bartender, he gets in easily. As Yamashita continues to serve him drink by drink, a catchy rock song accompanied by a beautiful voice starts to flow around the club; quite of few girls cheer. Ryo looks up and turns to see a young man, probably a couple years younger than him, singing passionately into the mic. (Ai Nante <3)
“Who’s that… singing?”
Yamashita cleans a glass and smiles as he responds to his long time friend, “His name is Tegoshi Yuya. He’s been coming to this bar for a while now. Good, isn’t he?”
“Yuya…”
Time flew by and it was already 3 A.M.; only a few people were left, including a tipsy Ryo with a cigarette in his mouth.
“Ah, Ryo-chan you’ve had too many. Come on it’s time to leave.”
“Yeah, yeah…” Ryo said as he slowly stood up from his seat, blowing out a puff of smoke.
“Yamashita, can you pour me one,” an innocent voice asked from behind Ryo.
Ryo looked to his right to see that same young man who was singing earlier take a seat a few chairs away. He examined the younger man, he had highlighted light brown hair that came down to his ears, a slim figure, and… did he smell like something sweet? Ryo couldn’t help but stare, and to his surprise the young man returned the stare.
“Got something on your mind?”
“Nothing really,” he replied back. He turned to face the front and put the cigarette back to his mouth.
Tegoshi took a sip of his beer and criticized Ryo, “Mmm, smoking is bad for you. I don’t like guys who smell like smoke.”
“I don’t remember asking you about it,” Ryo bitterly spat back.
Tegoshi simply chuckled into his glass.
Yamashita finally finished cleaning up and escorted both men outside. He put on a beanie and put his hands in his leather jacket. “Will you be okay getting home Ryo?”
He laughed a little, “Okay as anything…” He took one last puff then threw his cigarette to the ground, stepping on it. Though it took him a couple of times to actually do it.
(Okay that first part was like a story, and now I kinda summarize the rest~ to the ending.. ^^)
Throughout the weeks, Ryo kept finding himself going back to that bar. He told himself that it was because of the beer, but he knew… he wanted to see Yuya again. He was drawn to him, like the cigarettes he smoked. Tegoshi released him from the pain he felt. His smile soothed Ryo’s cold heart.
And slowly Ryo got to know Yuya and often talked with him at the bar; then soon, over the phone. Could Ryo smile again? He was thinking it was possible when he was with that stupidly cheerful, cute Yuya. But Ryo started rejecting the deep feelings he had. He didn’t want to fall in love again, especially for a man. How low could he get? He became angry.
As the night approached midnight, months later from their first meeting, both men walked back from eating out. Though, suddenly Ryo stopped walking, causing Tegoshi to stop as well. “Yuya,” Ryo cooed to the younger man, “I hate you.” With those words Ryo grabbed and pushed Yuya back into a wall and kissed him hard on the lips. Ryo pulled away and gazed sinisterly into the younger man eyes.
“I hate the smell of smoke… but I could never… hate it on you…” as Yuya drifted off from his statement; he couldn’t help but lean forward for a more passionate kiss.
*fangirling* Well that's about it. Happy ending as the two stay together forever!
Chapter 3~ Believe in Me!
“Hmm, I remember reading that he likes English… maybe I should approach the situation with some of this information. Ah that won’t work. How the heck should I do this,” asked the young Guardian Angel. She looked up at the sky as she sat on the stairs leading down to the first floor. He kicked her out.
It’s not like she couldn’t get back in, but she figure she’d give him some space.
The door opened and he peeked out; the left side of his face could be seen for a second then he was gone behind the closing door. “She’s still here,” the young man questioned. He locked his door and planned to take a shower, but instead just stood by the door. He was lost in his thoughts, ‘How is it possible that she knew those things? I asked her question after question and she knew all of it! Maybe she’s a stalker…Maybe she’s been stalking me since I was a little kid…’ He slapped his head, “That’s just stupid.”
He looked up at his empty house and got a few ideas. He ran to his room to get his cell phone. He called his friend Toma to come over. He then went to grab a few things then turned to unlock his door. He looked at her look at him. “Come on in, I’ve got questions for you.”
“Okay,” Maki said simply. ‘This could be it!’ She smiled.
He closed the door behind the supposed Angel then guided her to his couch. He didn’t talk for a long time, but suddenly started, “For all I know, you could have gone to one of my friends and asked…”
“Yes, I suppose that’s true…”
“Well, explain then, what does a Guardian Angel do?”
‘He believes me!’ Maki wiggled a bit on the couch as she got excited, “Well Guardian Angels do what most people believe, we watch over you.”
“Watch over us,” he repeated.
“Correct. We guide you and help to solve your problems.”
“But I don’t have any problems… I’m perfectly fine.”
Maki frowned, “If there wasn’t anything wrong I wouldn’t be here right now. I’ve told you already, you’ve prayed so much in the past week; you were looking for guidance, yes?”
“And what problems do I have,” he asked as if to challenge her. It was in vain, she knew the exact reason why.
“Love.”
He took a breath in and his eyes widened a little bit. He shifted a bit in his seat then crossed his arms. “That won’t work, plenty of people have love problems.” He grinned; he thought he had figured her out.
“Yamashita, Tomoshia is so worried and conflicted about Nagasawa, Masami that it’s starting to affect his work and life. Please do not test me like this,” Maki asked patiently.
He was frozen in silence, until a knock on the door woke him up from his stupor.
‘Yes, he’s here. I’ll finally put a end to all of this!’
Yamapi ran to his door and opened it quickly, “Yo, glad you’re here.”
“Yamapi, yo. What’s going on, you called me so suddenly…” Toma-chan said in confusion.
Yamapi guided his friend into the living room and opened his arms wide towards Maki, “I’d like you to meet my Guardian Angel.” He had a very sarcastic tone in his voice.
Maki frowned and her eyes saddened; she tilted her head down and shook it back and forth.
“What? Guardian Angel?” Toma looked at his friend in curiosity. “What are you talking about? Ah! Are you drunk?”
“Drunk!? No, can’t you see her!? She sitting right there on the couch,” he yelled to his confused friend. He walked over to her and pointed right at her head. “You’ve got to see her!”
His close friend walked over to him and felt his forehead, “No, you don’t have a fever.”
“Would you cut it out,” Yamapi asked in frustration as he pushed his friend’s hand away. “Okay, fine. Listen to this!” He pulled out a recorder and pressed play. All that could be heard was him. He carried on a conversation by himself.
Toma laughed, “Wow, you’re good at that. But come on, what’s this about? I don’t think you should go out tonight. Get some rest.”
He looked down at the girl then back towards his friend, “Maybe you’re right, I do feel tired.”
“Right? Well I’ll leave you to it.”
Toma left and Yamapi went to his room.
Maki looked up and noticed him walk into his room. She followed the tired man. “Why does he call you Yamapi?” She stood in the doorway and noticed him turning away from her on his bed.
“Pink, it’s because I wore lots of pink years ago.”
Maki nodded her head then turned to leave; she stopped as he began to speak.
“How come he couldn’t see or hear you?”
She turned around and found him sitting on his bed looking at her.
“I can only be seen or heard by you.”
“So, you’re my Guardian Angel?”
“Yes.”
“And you’re going to stay with me until my problems are fixed?”
“Something like that.”
They stared at each other for a long time, until Maki pardon herself to leave. She was starting to get that same feeling of pain again in her head.
High in the clouds, Yuu got up quickly from his chair. “Maki…”
“My old friend, do not be worried.”
“How can I not be? She’s only been on Earth for two days and this is happening!”
“Calm yourself.” His sensei’s voice was stern.
He slowly sat back down in his chair and kept watching his student.
“It will turn out just fine, believe me.”
“Yes Sir.”
It was already morning of the next day, and Yamapi woke up to the smell of rice. “Eh… What’s this?” He got up from his bed and turned his fan off as he went to leave his bedroom. He opened the door and saw his Guardian Angel making breakfast.
“I thought Angels were like ghosts… they can’t touch anything.”
“Well, that’s true. I’m not your average Angel.” She turned around and yelped as she saw a half naked man in front of her. She immediately turned back around.
“E-eh?!”
“Eh?”
“EH!” Yamapi ran back to his room to quickly put a shirt on.
She slowly turned around and peeked; he walked back covered. A light blush came to her cheeks, but she pushed her embarrassed feelings aside and served him breakfast. He sat down on the floor in the living room; he looked at the breakfast. He was a bit shocked.
“You knew this is my favorite to eat in the morning,” he asked innocently.
“Of course. I hope you like it,” Maki said as she walked back to the kitchen.
“So how is it that you can touch things,” he asked as he placed his hands together. “Itadikimasu!”
Maki put the dishes in the sink and started cleaning them. She spoke softly, “Well, there’s something…I’m different than other Angels. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the ‘Odd Angel’. Angels have a certain glow to them, a sparkle that I don’t have. And as anyone could imagine, Angels have wings; except me. Plus, my hair still grew…” She realized she was probably making him feel uncomfortable. “But that doesn’t mean I’m not good at what I do!” She smiled.
He didn’t respond for a long while. Then he paused while eating, and looked up the cleaning Angel, “So why did you choose me?”
She turned off the running water and looked at him, “I’m not sure either.”
He nodded a bit then continued eating what was left on his plate. After about 10 more minutes he stood and put the dishes in the sink. He had to get ready for work, so he left to take a shower and get changed.
Maki leaned against the kitchen counter and thought to herself. ‘Sensei, am I really ready for this? I’ve never felt so a lone right now…’ She heard her Sensei’s words in her mind, ‘You are more than ready. Have confidence in yourself. I didn’t train you to act this way.’ She nodded, ‘I understand! I’ll be the best Guardian Angel the Earth has ever seen!’
Yamapi walked out of his room and noticed Maki cheering herself on. “What are you doing?”
She laughed nervously, “Ah, nothing!”
A/N: Ah~ another chapter done. What do you think?
Mmm, we'll meet Masami's character in the next chapter...or that's what I'm planning. Hahah.
See you soon! Hope you enjoyed!

Chapter Two~ Our First Meeting
Maki entered her sensei’s chambers as summoned, “You called for me Sensei?” She looked and saw him standing with his back towards her. She smiled, but then frowned. Normally he wouldn’t summon her this way; had she done something to upset him? For in the year that she’s been his student she knew what made him angry.
“Yes, I called for you. Sit down,” he said with a serious tone which made Maki a little bit on edge, causing her to trip over the lush carpet. He sighed.
“S-sorry…” she apologized. She thought inwardly, ‘Don’t mess this up Maki! He’s never summoned you like this so it has to be something big. Oh no! What if I already ruined it?’
“Please come back from your inner monologue…I’m waiting.”
The nervous angel looked up to her sensei and noticed his sudden worried eyes. “Sensei…?
“You’ve been assigned someone. This will be your first…” Yuu said with insecurities in his voice, though Maki didn’t notice it.
“I’ve been assigned, already?!”
“Listen to me,” he said sternly. He walked to Maki and put his hand on her shoulder, “The Elders and I have decided you are ready, so please take this very seriously.”
“Hai.”
“Alright…” He turned his back to her and started walking back towards his office desk.
“Ano~ Sensei? Who will I be guiding?”
“His name is Yamashita, Tomohisa.”
Suddenly a folder popped right in front of her, she flinched back. The young angel reached out her hand to grasp the floating file. There clipped on to the file was his picture. Maki starred innocently at him and whispered his name, “Yamashita… Tomohisa…” She didn’t know why her cheeks felt warm.
“Sensei, when will I be departing,” the curious and anxious angel asked. She looked up so suddenly that her black locks of hair flung forward and hit her a bit in the face.
“Oh, my dumb student…”
“Hey!”
“You’ll leave in just a moment…” High Angel Yuu turned around once again to look at his student. She was innocently looking through his profile and he noticed she kept touching his picture. His mouth became a hard line on his face. He closed his eyes and thought for the slightest moment that he should cancel the whole thing and try and come up with a responsible answer to his Sensei. He cleared his throat and opened his eyes as his pupil looked up at him.
“Listen to me Maki; we’ve been to Earth a few times before for your training, but this time I won’t be there with you. As I was guiding you, you will be guiding someone else. But remember, if need be… I will be here for you.” He brought his right fist from behind his back to cover his mouth; he cleared his throat again.
“Thank you Sensei, I promise not to let you down,” Maki said with cheerfulness in her voice. “Well, I guess I should get going…”
“Remember, A Guardian Angel must guide the mind, body and soul of their chosen human-“Yuu was cut off by the young angel.
“The three rules, I know Sensei.” She smiled; it seemed to lighten up the entire room. “Bye bye!” The excited, young angel was soon gone.
“Please, Lord, be with her…”
Yuu suddenly heard his Sensei’s voice in his mind, “She’ll be fine. Like you said, I’ll be with her.”
“I’m still worried about her memories… it’s a good thing, yes?”
“Of course, this will help her find her way back home.”
`````````
Maki was suddenly on the ground under a tall tower that reached high up into the sky. She looked around and saw tons of buildings, cars, and people.
“Hmm, this is Tokyo Tower. But why did I land here?”
She suddenly heard a loud bell calling out to her. The angel closed her eyes and thought to herself, repeating her Sensei’s words, “’ The bell will always bring you to them.’ Okay, follow the bell. He’s close.” She opened her eyes and ran quickly to the other side of the tower, the bell was chiming a most wonderful song; she turned her head and saw him leaning against one of the pillars. “He’s… beautiful…”
She opened her folder and looked at his picture; unknowingly touching it. She then looked back and forth, comparing the picture to the real thing in front of her. “Yes, it’s him… so now all I have to do is watch him.” Maki smiled down at the picture, closing the folder then casting her attention again to him. “Eh? He’s gone!” He wasn’t leaning against the pillar anymore. She looked across the street and noticed he was turning a corner.
It only took her a quick second to catch up with him.
She walked beside him and noticed he seemed distracted. She opened his folder once more and flipped a few pages. The curious angel read aloud, “A troubled man in love. Hmm, I suppose he’s thinking about a girl. Nagasawa, Masami…”
The evening went by and Maki kept a close watch over her Human. She read his file over 10 times so that she could have the entire thing memorized. It was pretty long too, ranging from his birth to the present time. But she didn’t mind. She had a fascination with his life. Though what puzzled her was the familiarity she felt every time she read it.
Her attention was suddenly on his cell phone ringing.
He answered, and it was the first time she heard his voice. It was low like a man’s, but seemed to have a bit of a childish tone to it as well. “Moshi, mosh- yo. Eeehh… Mmm. Hai, hai. I’ll be there in a little bit.” He hung up and started walking in the opposite direction. Maki put her hand to her chin, “So it seems a friend called for a late dinner…”
He was at a station now and finally caught sight of his friend. “Yo!”
“What took so long,” said his nicely-dressed friend.
“Toma-chan, you called me when I was almost home!”
They laughed together then went into a nearby small restaurant. Maki followed the two in by foot and stood behind Yamashita.
They talked about all kinds of things; work, music, family, friends, and the topic most interesting to Maki, girls.
“So tell me something, is she still pulling you around?”
“Eh…” Yamapi said as he lifted his glass of beer to his soft lips.
“Look, you need to end it with her. She’s the type of girl, who could have other guys on the side, if you know what I’m saying?” The guy called Toma-chan leaned back in his chair and followed his close friend in drinking beer.
“Don’t say that. She’s cute, funny, and,” he stopped talking and sighed.
“I’m just looking out for you.”
The attractive boys stopped talking on the matter and finished their meals. After a few more beers and chatting they finally parted and left for their separate homes. Yamapi finally reached his apartment. He tossed his keys on the nearby kitchen counter and went to his tiny master bedroom and landed hard on the bed; he bounced up a little bit.
“I guess I should make my entrance.” Maki went outside of his apartment and repeated the steps of her training in her mind, “Watch them for a while and when you think it’s best to show yourself, do so. Eh, that seems easier said than done. Well here goes nothing.”
She closed her eyes and snapped her fingers; she was officially on Earth now. She gasped as her head starting hurting. It felt like it was tightening itself. In her mind she saw a small child, a boy, running and laughing. Was she chasing him? Suddenly the image was gone and she was left looking at his door. The stunned angel on Earth took a moment to control her breathing and get used to the air around her.
After a moment she was calm again. ‘What was that all about? Best not to linger on it…Oh wait! I can’t walk around in this white gown!’ The gown was pure white, innocent and flowing. Humans couldn’t comprehend the pureness it stood for. Maki snapped her fingers again and changed into some trendy clothes she saw in a shop while she was following Yamashita Tomohisa around – jeans pre-torn around the knees, a stripped tank, and a white jacket on it with a pink logo on the front.
Knock knock knock!
Maki heard him walking to the door; he opened it. He looked at her with a curious look, “Hai?”
“Do you mind if I use your phone? My vehicle broke down and I’m completely lost.” Maki smiled brightly; she looked like an innocent enough girl.
“Mmm… Hai. Douzo.” The kind boy opened his door wider and moved aside to let her into his small, but comfortable home.
“Thank you so much,” Maki said as she entered. She took small steps and examined his place.
The first room when entering was a very small kitchen to the right. Past it was a large living room, which looked like it was combined with the dining room. He didn’t use it though for its natural purposes; he had a computer set up there. It looked like he just ate at the large table in between his big flat screen and a sofa. Pass that was the balcony.
“You have a nice place here.”
“Mm, thanks. Ah, I have the phone over here,” he said as he walked pass his guest and into the living room. The phone was next to his desktop computer.
“Right, thanks again. I really appreciate it.” Maki went to the phone and pressed down on a few numbers; Yamapi went to his kitchen.
“By the way, why did you come to my apartment? I’m on the second floor, you could have gone to someone else…” Yamapi said with a bit of suspicion in his voice.
“I knew you would let me in. You’re very kind towards those who need help.”
Yampi looked up slowly and locked eyes with the girl who seemed to know more than she was letting on; who was hiding something. He stepped back a bit instinctively, “Who are you?”
“My name is Maki, I’m your Guardian Angel,” she said with a bright smile.
“Are you a crazy person? I want you to leave, or I’ll call the cops.”
“Please do not be alarmed, I won’t hurt you. I’m only here to help you is all. In the past week you’ve prayed quite a few times and have asked for guidance; this is why I am here.”
He stood staring at her, trying to decide what he should do or say.
“I’ll give you proof if you want it.” She took a step to the side and tried getting closer to him.
“J-just stay there,” he said as he raised his hand as if she wouldn’t understand his words. He continued, “Proof? What kind of proof?”
“Ask me anything from your past and I can answer it for you.” Maki placed her arms behind her back and rocked back and forth on her heals.
“When I was 6 I got this scar here,” he said as he pointed at his left elbow, “how did I get it?”
“You told your Mother that you tripped while you were playing outside, but you actually got it from riding your bike,” Maki said as she rolled her head a bit. She straighten up and pointed her index finger at him and started waving it back and forth as she continued his story, “You weren’t supposed to be riding it when your Mother wasn’t with you, but you did and ended up smashing into a wall and fell over. You got into a lot of trouble; you cried when your Mother locked away your bike.”
“No… way…”
“Do you believe me now?”
“No…”
Chapter One ~ Become a Guardian Angel
“Yuu, my old friend, what do you think of Maki? You know she is a special case,” asked a loud, yet calming voice. “I wish for you to train her.”
“But Sensei, she may contain memories that will affect her work. I don’t think it is very wise.” He looked up at the grand golden chair at the back of the room, but with no one sitting in it, and spoke with great uncertainty.
“My friend,” paused the voice, “my old student, do you not have faith in me anymore?”
Yuu scoffed, “How could you ask something so feeble?”
“Then you will take her under your wings, yes?”
“As you wish.”
“Yes, she will be good with the boy.”
Somewhere else high in the heavens, a girl lay on her silk sheets and examined her small hands. She turned them back and forth slowly. They looked so smooth, but didn’t have the same shine as the other angels.
“Where’s my shine,” asked the girl aloud.
She put it out of her mind and got up quickly to go to her small mirror.
“I don’t need to shine. I’m perfect just as I am,” she said as she smiled to herself in the mirror.
She pushed her bangs a bit to their sides so she could get a proper look at her face. Her dark ebony hair lay softly on her shoulders, and curled inward towards her light skinned face. Her lips were pink and her eyes dark brown. But looked up when there was soft knock on her door.
“Hai!”
She quickly went to the door and was greeted by a blonde, blue eyed angel named Stella; she was German. The beauty of being in Heaven was that no matter what language you spoke, everyone could understand one another.
“Maki, you’ve been summoned,” she said cheerfully.
“Eh? By who?”
“By High Angel Yuu!”
“High Angel Yuu,” Maki repeated.
High Angel Yuu was considered as one of the Elders and was highly respected by most. He is rumored to be the most intelligent and most patient. No one is sure of his actual age, but his appearance is that of a middle aged Japanese man, and is always seen wearing a wedding tux.
Maki thought to herself, ‘Why would he want to see me? I hope I haven’t done anything bad…’
Stella put her hand on Maki’s sudden heavy shoulders, “Don’t worry about it.”
Maki took comfort in her friend’s words and straightened her back with a sudden confidence. “Hai. I will not cower in front of him.”
She was deeply mistaken as she approached the High Angel’s door.
“I don’t think I can do this…” she confessed to herself. Pushing her pessimistic thoughts aside she encouraged herself and said, “No, you can do this Maki. Ganbatte!” She clasped her hands and pulled her arms inwards towards her body. “Yeosh!”
She knocked on the door and waited for a response. Instead of an answer, the door opened itself.
“Ano… hello,” Maki asked quietly.
Maki jumped a little as a voice came from behind her, “How can you expect anyone to hear you when you whisper like that?”
Maki turned to look at the man who asked the truthful question. She suddenly backed away and bowed deeply, “High Angel Yuu.”
“Yes, well, please come in,” Yuu said with a sigh in his voice.
He walked past the still bowing, young Angel in front of him and sat down behind his mahogany desk. He picked up his white feather and began writing on some parchments that needed to have his approval. Maki slowly rose from her stance and peeked through her hair to look at the busy Angel. She positioned herself to stand facing him; she kept her silence and waited for him to speak.
Yuu put his feather back into the ink bottle and stood up. He placed his arms behind his back and spoke to the awaiting Angel, “Maki, please step forward so that you are in the middle of this circle.”
“Hai, High Angel Yuu.” She took a few steps forwards and looked down on the ground to make sure she was in fact in the exact middle.
He chuckled at her, “There’s no need to be so nervous. Now please, let me have a look at you.”
“H-hai.”
The Elder placed his hand under her chin and tilted it this way and that way. He looked into her eyes; her heart. He took a step back and lightly nodded. Then he stepped out of the circle and slowly walked around it to inspect her. This was making Maki more and more nervous, for she still didn’t know why she was here in the first place.
“You are very young, and very unwise. But what you lack in knowledge and in skills, I will teach you. It has been determined that you will become my student. From here forth I, High Angel Yuu, will be your teacher. And you will become a Guardian Angel.”
Maki’s mouth opened slightly in astonishment, “A Guardian? Me?”
“Yes, it seems so.”
She tilted her head down in confusion; quite frankly she wasn’t sure what she should think. She bit her lip from habit.
“High Angel Yuu, why me? There are plenty of better Angels than me. Plus, I… I don’t even Shine…” Maki trailed off in a low tone.
The Elder could see her insecurities, “Please do not worry. You have abilities that others only dream they had. Believe me when I say that you are special. Understand?”
“Hai.”
He nodded his head once to end the conversation there.
“So, shall we,” the wise Angel asked.
“’Shall we’ what?”
“Begin your training of course,” he shouted with a confounded tone.
“Already?!”
Maki was suddenly dragged into a world of vigorous training.
A/N: I posted a great avi of Maki, ne? I'm gonna try and post the ones I think fit the mood of each chapter.
Well, the Prologue and Chapter one are up, what do you think? promising?
Mmm, we'll see how it goes!
Chuu desu<3~!
Prologue
“One, a Guardian Angel must guide the mind, body, and soul of their chosen human.
Two, a Guardian Angel may never tamper with fate.
And three, a Guardian Angel must never, under any circumstances fall in love.
These rules must always be followed. I didn’t think they would be a problem... I've been so naïve.
I guess I wasn’t destined to be a Guardian Angel.”
Maki entered her sensei’s chambers as summoned, “You called for me Sensei?” She looked and saw him standing with his back towards her. She smiled because she knew her Sensei, Yuu-San, was the best and had a good sense of style. He wore a tuxedo and a hat to match.
“Yes, I called for you. Sit down,” he said with a serious tone which made Maki a little bit on edge, causing her to trip over the lush carpet. He sighed.
“S-sorry…” she apologized. She thought inwardly, ‘Don’t mess this up Maki! He’s never summoned you like this so it has to be something big. Oh no! What if I already ruined it?’
“Please come back from your inner monologue…I’m waiting.”
The nervous angel looked up to her sensei and noticed his sudden worried eyes. “Sensei…?
“You’ve been assigned someone. This will be your first, right? Ah, yes it will.”
“I’ve been assigned?!”
“Listen to me,” he said sternly. He walked to Maki and put his hand on her shoulder, “The elders have decided, after all your hard training, that you are ready; I had to give my recomendation of course. So please, take this very seriously.”
“Hai.”
“Alright…” He turned his back to her and started walking back towards his office.
“Ano~ Sensei? Who will I be guiding?”
“His name is Yamashita, Tomohisa. He's a young, hard-working man who seems to be having some troubles right now.”
The young angel reached out her hand to grasp the floating file. There clipped on to the file was his picture. Maki starred innocently at him and whispered his name, “Yamashita… Tomohisa…”
Story Two!
Yamapi hit his brother on the back of his head, “Baka!”
“Ehh, why you-“ Shun raised his hand to smack Yamapi on the back of the head, “Don’t you know you shouldn’t disrespect your elders?”
“Yeah… you’re pretty old and gross.” Yamapi laughed as he quickly got up from the table. “Baka!”
“Running away scared because I beat you up last time,” Shun asked as he continued eating his dinner.
“Eh~ still claiming you won… We all know that I’m better than you.”
They both looked at each other with fire in their eyes.
Toma-chan looked at the both of them, “Guys, guys come on. Let’s play nice, eh?”
Both of them shouted, “Shut up Toma!”
“Alright, how about the both of you settle this rivalry with one last bet.”
Yamapi sat down again next to his best friend, “I’m listening.”
“Why don’t both of you go after the same girl? Whichever she confesses to at the end of, let’s say half a year, will win. And I’ll pick the girl, so no one can cheat…”
Shun looked at his younger brother. Yamapi looked back at his older brother.
“You’ve got a deal.”
Toma-chan clapped, “Ah~ good, good. I’ve got just the girl in mind too.”
The brothers looked at their friend, “Who?”
“Tsuji, Hana.”
I felt the man pulled off of me, and soon heard yelling and punches being thrown. “Let’s get out of here man…”
“If I see you again, I’ll kill you! You stay away from her!”
I didn’t take the time to look at my rescuer, I stood up and started running away. “Stay away from me!”
“Wait! Miya!”
I stumbled and almost fell flat on my face until the man running after me, caught my arm. I thrashed around until he grabbed my face to force me to look at him. “Miya, it’s me. It’s Kyou.”
“Kyou…" I asked confusedly. I blinked a few times to clear my blury vision.
“You don’t have to be scared any more. I’m here for you.” His face softened, even though his grasp on me didn't.
“Kyou…I… I was so s-scared! I t-thought they w-were going to…” I didn’t know if I was stuttering because I was cold and wet, or if it was because I terrified.
“I know, I know…”
I felt Kyou pull me into his warm chest. I strangely felt safe. I cried for a moment until my mind became filled with him…
“Wait… why are you here? Where’s Yamashita-kun?” I sniffed and wiped away some stray tears.
“Ugh… that guy again…”
“Kyou…”
“Miya-chan…”
Kyou and I both looked up at the voice calling my name from behind. Yamashita-kun. I pulled away from Kyou and took a few steps towards him; Kyou took bigger steps and got in front of me. “Oh, it’s so nice of you to show up Pretty Boy! Do you have any idea what she’s been through!?”
I tried pushing Kyou to the side, but didn’t have much strength, “Kyou s-stop being mean.”
“I don’t have any excuses.”
“Like hell you do!”
“Now that you’ve got your point across, I need to talk with Miya-chan.”
“Whatever you want to say, you can say it in front of me!”
I walked around Kyou and took the steps needed to be in between them. “Yamashita-kun…” I looked at his face. His eyes had dark circles under them, and he looked like he was sick. I was getting worried as he wasn't talking. My fears were rising to the surface.
“I think it would be best if we broke up.”
My fears had come true.
Kyou suddenly ran past me and grabbed Yamapi’s leather jacket by the collar. “This is what you wanted to say?! AH! You piss me off!” He raised his fist, Yamapi didn’t close his eyes, and didn’t flinch when Kyou almost punched him in the face.
“You’re not worth it…” Kyou release Yampi roughly and turned to come to me. “Come on, let’s leave this loser.”
I didn’t budge, so Kyou started pulling me; I pulled away and started yelling, “How can you think this is best!? Why do you think this way?!” My hands immediately lifted up to my chest grabbing my jacket where my heart would be.
“Miya… if we don’t end it now… I’m afraid I won’t be able to make you happy any more.”
“Why are you always making decisions on your own?”
“Listen, I’m always going to have to put my work first. You’ll always be second, and I can’t help that. Kyou can give you what I can’t. He can always be by your side, he doesn't have to wait or schedule to spend a day with you, he can hold you at any time he wants…so much I have trouble doing...”
I took in his words and closed my eyes. For a moment I could see myself with Kyou. In my mind we would start dating. He would pick on me, say jokes when he’s in a good mood, hug me intently when I was sad. We would have our first kiss when it was most convenient for him, and he’ll apologize for being such a child; I'd forgive him in the end. I could see us holding hands and eventually getting married. He’d be a good father I think…
I opened my eyes as tears started falling down.
“You should get going. You’ve been out here for a while, right? Kyou you should take her home.”
“Don’t tell me what to do. Come one Miya let’s go.” I heard the snow smash down as Kyou walked up to me. He grabbed my hand tight and pulled me away from Yamapi. I let myself be dragged away.
I wouldn’t know until years later that Yamapi cried when I turned my back.
---------------------------
Kyou and I walked down an empty street; only the street lights and the ramen shops still open gave off light. I looked up at Kyou’s back, followed his arm down to his hand which was holding mine. Can I be happy this way?
I closed my eyes once more, when the darkness came over me I could see his face. I could see him smiling. I could see him laughing. Why can’t it be me? No…
“I can’t…”
“What?” I stopped walking, forcing Kyou to stop and look back at me. “Miya…”
“Kyou… I can’t leave him.”
“Didn’t you hear him? He said it himself! He can’t give you the things like I can!”
“Even if he can’t… I can give those things to him. I can be his strength!”
“No, Miya don’t. Miya please, I love you.” Kyou was holding both of my hands now. He pulled me into his chest. “I won’t let you go.”
“You say 'I love you' so easily... Kyou, stop it…” He heard my words and slowly loosen his grip.
I pulled away slightly then raised my hands to the back of my neck. I unbuckled his necklace. “Kyou, you should take this back.” He didn’t move, so I grabbed his hand and opened it so that his palm was up. I circled the silver necklace in his hand. “Thank you, but I can’t accept your feelings for me.”
I leaned up, kissed him on the cheek then turned around and started running. I heard him yell back to me, “You better be happy! Or I won’t forgive you!”
I think Kyou was meant to be a good friend.
I ran as hard as my body would let me, and it wasn’t much. My breath was heavy in the air; it felt like sharp daggers cutting into my chest as I breathed in. My legs felt heavy as they moved back and forth; my steps seemed irregular. My body wanted to stop, but I couldn’t let it happen. My mind took over; my will.
I soon got to the park, but ran up to the point where Yamapi’s car was parked before. “The tire marks... they went that way!” I started running again, following the trail left behind. “I can make it. He couldn’t have gotten far…” ‘Please…please let me reach him…’
I ran, ran, and kept running. And finally I saw his car stopped at a light. My body stopped as it saw the car. ‘Come on, don’t give up on me now…’ I tried moving my legs, but they were done for. I straightened up again and noticed the light turning green. “No,” I took a deep breath and yelled with all of my might, “YAMASHITA WAIT!!!”
His car drove forward. He was now out of my sight.
“No…” I couldn’t help but feel abandoned. I didn’t want to be alone; I wanted someone by my side. It had to be Yamashita-kun. “Yamashita-kun…”
“MIYA!”
I looked up when I heard my name being yelled. I saw Yamashita-kun running towards me. I couldn’t help but let tears fall. He stopped running and halted just a foot away from me; his breathing was heavy in the cold air.
“I’m…sorry…Yamashita-kun,” I sobbed.
“Baka.”
He closed the gap as he grabbed me tightly into a hug. I was surrounded by the warmth of his body; even his breath was hot against my neck. I grabbed on tightly to his leather jacket as if I would die if I didn’t. I wouldn’t let go, he didn’t care.
Yamapi’s voice shook in my ear, I couldn’t tell if he was crying or not, “I’m s-sorry too. I’m not strong enough to let you go. When I saw you, when I heard you call out my name… I thought I had lost you before…Gomen ne~ Gomen ne~” His hold tightened around me. Soon it felt like I was holding him than he holding me.
“I choose you…please, let me be your strength.”
“Hai…stay by my side…”
He pulled away silently and grabbed my hand. We didn’t talk as he guided us back to his parked car. We didn’t even speak in the car as he started driving. I listened to his steady breathing, it was the most beautiful sound.
--------------
“Wake up, were here.” He lightly shook my body to wake me up.
“W-where are we?” I stretched a bit and yawned.
“Listen,” he purred.
My heart skipped a bit, but I did as instructed. “Ah! The ocean!” I looked out the window, the sky was lighter; the ocean was so pretty. I got out as he did. We met at the front of the car and he held out his hand to lead me onto the beach. I gladly accepted.
“I wanted to watch the New Year sunrise with you. It should be any minute now.”
“I’ve got a wish ready to go.”
“You’re quick,” he teased. “Me too.”
Soon the sun was peeking out from behind the ocean. It light up the water with yellow, pink, and orange. The waves caused some light white to be mixed in. It was beautiful. We let go of our hands; I brought mine up in front of my face as if I was going to pray. I closed my eyes and made my wish. I scruntched my face; I wanted it to come true.
I opened my eyes and turned my head a bit as I heard Yamapi giggling at me. “Kawaii ne~” He had his body turned towards me, his eyes shined, and the wind blew his hair to the side which covered his eye a bit. “Miya-chan…maybe not today, maybe not in a few years, but I know enough right now that I want to take care of you…will you marry me?”
I turned my whole body to face his, causing the wind to blow my long hair to the side. I put my hands behind my back and smiled, “Yes, but on one condition.”
“Condition?”
“Let me call you by your first name…”
“Eh?”
“Tomohisa…” He immediately turned away so that I couldn’t see his face. I hopped a little to see his hidden face; he was blushing. I giggled whole-heartedly.
“Hai, hai, hai…” he said as he pulled me into a hug. We laughed together then slowly stopped.
He spoke softly in my ear, "I love you."
"You have the best timing..." I said with a slight giggle in my voice. "I love you too...Tomo-chan"
I felt him smile against my ear, “I’ll be by your side forever.”
“I like the sound of forever.”
My wish came true. Together forever.
A/N: Waaaaaaa! I finally finished Mie-chan!! *applauds self* Hahah
And I'm so sorry for this long wait. You may feel satisfied with a finished story.
So what do you think? Did you like it??? Was it long enough? Ah~ so many questions...
Chuu!!<3
I opened my sore eyes, and then immidiately closed them. I wanted to go back to bed, I haven't felt the need to stay in bed like this in a very long time. I finally stretched out my hand out of the warm blanket into the cold air and turned off my alarm. The sun hasn't even come up yet. It's really early...
I pulled my arm back into the blanket and covered my head as well, as if to hide beneath it. I didn't get much sleep last night, proabably a couple of hours because I fianally crashed... I was plagued with flashbacks of what I had said to Yamashita-kun... 'I wish you weren't the famous Yamapi! It's not FAIR!' I bit my lip and my eyes automatically squeezed shut when it flashed through my mind. 'I really am the worst...'
After getting up and using the bathroom I entered the noisy livingroom. My Mom was already up and cooking breakfast. She didn't need to. She had the day off today...
"Mama...you didn't have to get up so early to cook," I complained as I took comfort in our kotatsu.
"You have a double shift today, so I wanted to make sure you got a good meal in your stomach. Hai hai, coffee coffee..." She hurried over and placed a big mug of coffee in front of me. I placed my hands around it and took in the warmth of the mug. I looked up at her as I noticed she had gotten closer to my face. "Did you get any sleep? You've got dark circles under your eyes...eh! Red eyes! What happened?"
I didn't want to worry her....so I bent the truth, "Well I got into an argument with... Kyou...about umm Yamapi, so I thought about it some, last night..."
"Kyou? That boy is big trouble. But I suppose he's an alright kid. When I was you two's age I didn't act like that!" She stood up and started mumbling about her past. At that moment I was happy my Mom was so Spacey. "Well breakfast will be done in about 5 more minutes!"
"Hai."
---------------------------------
"Have a good day honey! Ganbatte!" My Mom yelled out from the door as I got to the street below.
"Haaii!" I waved goodbye to her and tried my best to put on a smile. But as soon as I was out of sight from her, the weak smile faded. 'I wonder what's going to happen now...Do we break up?' I had to control myself from breaking down in the middle of the street. 'I don't want that...but what should I do? I said those horrible, unfair things to him. He probably hates me now... I'd hate me. I had to know this would happen though...maybe I'm still a child...'
My thoughts distracted me enough that I wasn't sure how I'd gotten to the store. I was suddenly looking up at it. I could see Panda-san sweeping inside; he noticed me though the glass and hurried to the doors. They automatically slid open for him, but creaked as they did. It really was cold today.
"My dear Mi-chan, what are you doing? Come in before you freeze to death!" He put his arm around my back and guided me in. He really did feel like a uncle to me. I felt a bit happy at feeling his presence.
I decided to put my problems aside and only concentrate on the task at hand. I would be no help to him if I was this distracted. "So, what should I do? We open in..."
"Ah, hai hai. Please get the counter ready please."
"Hai!" I took off my large jacket, scarf and hat and put them on a hanger in the back room. I put on my apron and tightened it tight around my back. I needed to work hard today.
Even though the day's work and customers were a good distraction, whenever I had free time, even it were a 5 minute break, I'd ultimately go back and think about Yamashita-kun. I'd wondered whether I should call him, or send a mail. But I never did. I think I was too scared to talk to him. I didn't want things to end between us.
So finally the double shift was over, and I was worn out. I hadn't done it before and I don't think I'd ever want to again. But Panda-San was very happy for my help. He even gave me some of my pay in advance.
"Ah, You didn't need to Panda-san!" I looked inside the envelope.
"Well, my wife and I are very appriciative towards you. You've done such a fine job with us. We hope we can count on you next year as well." He bowed to me, I immidiately bowed back.
"Of course. Arigatou." I bowed again. "Well, I should get home. Good work today!"
"Hai. Good work!"
I took off my apron and put my jacket back on. I wrapped my scarf tightly around my neck and pulled the hat on tight. Then I was off into the dark, bitter cold of winter.
Panda-san watched me turn the corner then went to the back room to the phone.
"Hello, this is Shinta-san," my Mom responded.
"Ah Hello."
"What a suprise! What has you calling? Is Miya alright?"
"Oh, yes she's on her way home now. But... I need to speak to you about her."
My mother's tone became lower and more serious, "Yes, what is it?"
-------------------------------------
I got home just short of midnight, it seemed longer coming home rather than leaving it. "I'm home." I took off my shoes, then surprisingly saw my Mom still up. She was sitting at the table drinking some tea.
"Ah, welcome home honey."
"Mama, what are you still doing up?"
"Come, sit by me and warm up." She patted the floor next to her then held up the warm kotatsu. I did as she gestured, feeling a bit nervous. Mama never acts like this, unless she has something important to talk about.
"You didn't have an argument with Kyou, did you?"
"E-eh...?"
"Panda-san called me and told me he caught you mumbling to yourself about Yamapi. He said he heard you saying 'Break up' and things of those sorts. Please honey. Tell me the truth. I can help you."
Before I knew it, I was crying in my Mother's arms and telling her all that I've felt this semester. All the feelings I had been keeping inside, that had finally erupted in front of Yamapi's face.
"My baby girl..." My mom rocked meback and forth and stroked her fingers through my hair. I was defenseless when she did this. "You've been going through so much by yourself. I'm very sorry that you feel you had to keep it hidden. Mama was bad."
"No, Miya is bad...."
She chuckled, "We're both bad." Then she pushed me up and had me face her, "My child, whenever you make your descision I will be there for you. I will always be on your side. You'll always be my number one." My Mom smiled, and I felt the warmth from her.
"Mmm!"
------------------------------------
A week had passed, It's New Year's Eve, and I still hadn't made up my mind. I didn't call him, and he didn't call me. I really was the worst.
"Ah Miya! We sooo need to party tonight! Oh wait! You'll be going to the Countdown, right," Nina asked sounding like she was annoyed.
"Umm, no I'm not going. I told my Mom we would celebrate toghether."
"Awwww! What a good daughter."
"Yeah, not like you Nina," Kyou said loudly.
"Shut up Kyou!"
We all sat around my table and drank and ate happily. Well, they seemed happy for the most part. I laughed when they made jokes, or when Nina was acting stupid. Even Ai-chan seemed in a good mood. But of course, like the whole week, my mind would wander towards him. I missed him.
"Yo, Miya, what's got you so down?"
I raised my head as I heard Kyou speaking to me. I lied, "Oh, nothing, I was just thinking about how a year went by so fast. I mean I was in America not too long ago, but yet, it seems like a long time ago." I laughed, "Sorry I'm not making much sense." I scratched the back of my head.
"You're probably drunk Miya," Nina purred.
"No, it's you who's drunk Nina," Ai-chan complained. "Why are we friends with you?"
"Because you love me!"
Ai-chan and I laughed at Nina. Only Kyou wasn't laughing, he was too busy trying to figure me out.
-----------------------
I said goodbye to my friends as they left, and got ready for Mom. I wanted it to be fun, since we didn't get to spend Christmas together. I cleaned up the mess left over from Nina, then got the food out; ready for cooking. But as I was done with the preparations, I had nothing else to do but wait. I sat at the table in silence. Luckily I was only alone for a little while longer until my Mom came home.
"Welcome home Mama!"
She laughed, "I'm home!"
The food was finished and we turned on the TV. My Mom flipped through the channels as I got the last bit of food on the table. She tried to distract me as she noticed The Countdown was on the channel.
"Mom, it's okay. It'll be nice to have the music and MC in the background."
"If you're okay with it." She put the remote control down softly and was weary of me.
I laughed, "Mom really, it's okay. Come on let's eat!"
"Yes, Ma'am!"
"5....4....3....2....1! Happy New Years!" I looked over and noticed my Mom asleep, she had leaned over the table and put her head on her arms. "She is getting old afterall....hmm poor Mama." I smiled down at her then looked back at the TV. They were showing different groups and shots of the huge crowds. Then they started interviewing different artists. I held my breath as they got to NEWS.
"So what are you looking foward to this year?"
Koyama spoke first, "We hope that we can continue to release great singles and albums."
"What about you Yamapi? You got a girlfriend this year, what would you like to happen this year?" The camera turned to Yamapi. I was very still as I waited for him to speak.
"Ah~ I hope she can be happy. No matter what." He gave a small smile towards the host and to the camera and bowed.
"What a guy!"
A tear fell down my cheek, I knew my answer. After all the endless circles I had been putting myself through. I knew what I wanted. I wanted him. I wanted him no matter what. I wanted to be the one to give him strength. I wiped the tear away then stood up and walked a couple of steps to get to my sleeping Mother.
"Mama, go sleep in your room. You'll catch a cold sleeping out here." She woke up slightly, which made it a bit easy to guide her over to her room. "Mom, I know I shouldn't leave at this time of night, but I have something very important that I need to do."
"Mmm, my baby girl... Do what you think is best." She fell back asleep, nice and tight in her comforter.
I kissed her forehead then quickly left her room to run to the table.
I cleaned up the mess, threw away what couldn't be eaten any more and stored away any left overs. I then took the time to wash the dishes. Though I'd probably have to do them again tomorrow, I didn't wash throughly. My mind seemed like it was everywhere at once. I left the dishes near the sink then hurried to my room. I put on some long stockings, jeans, a long sleeved light blue and black sweater. The whole process seemed to take forever.
I looked at the clock, "24: 42.... okay..." I looked one last time in the mirror, pushed my glasses up and put my hair behind my ears. "Yosh." I grabbed my phone and quickly opened it and started clicking away. ">I need to talk to you. Please meet me at the usual Park as soon as you can. I'll wait for you.< Send!" I closed my phone and put it in my back pocket as I walked out to the living room and towards the door. I grabbed my woal coat and quickly put it on. I slipped on my hat, and my gloves quickly. I buttoned up the coat then wrapped a long scarf around my neck.
I looked back at my quiet house then opened the door to leave.
----------------------------------
I arrived at the silent park. I walked slowly towards the swings then sat on the same one I had when we had first come here. The memory flashed through my mind. 'I want to be friends with you too.' His voice rang in my mind; he looked so perfect that night. If he had asked me to leave with him, I probably would have. And now look at where we are. We were in a hole that I wanted to despretly get out of.
I was in love with him. I don't think anything could change that.
The night went on, and so came some snow. I stood up and held my hand out. "Wow, how pretty." I suddenly thought of him then quickly looked down at my cell phone. It read 2: 54 in the morning. 'Why hasn't he called, or at least tried to mail me... he might still be busy with the Countdown. How long do those things go for?'
My attention was suddenly on a few men walking towards me. I took a couple of steps back as they got closer.
"Oi! Look at this pretty little thing, out here all alone," the tallest man said to his friends.
"What a cutie! Ah, just what I wanted to start off the new year!" They all started laughing.
"S-stay away!"
"Come on... treat us nicely...." The four of them were only a couple of feet away from me.
"No!" I turned and ran. But didn't get very far as they pushed me down to the ground.
"How dare you run away from us!"
I started yelling and cried out as one of them got on top of me. 'Yamashita-kun....save me! PLEASE! Where are you!?'
I could feel the the snow falling harder now on my face. The weather always seemed to know what I was going through. I closed my eyes shut and cried out.
a/N: woah. intense, eh? And much much longer than the previous.
Wells, The next chapter will be my last.
Thanks so much for reading it all and commenting. I couldn't have finished it if wasn't for the wonderful comments.
I sat down next to Koyama and smiled. The only ones missing were Tegoshi-kun and Massu. Koyama told me that they couldn't make it because of work. That's too bad, I really wanted to see Tegoshi's expression when he opened my present. But I was happy that we could still gather like this. It has been a while since we could. I asked Yamashita-kun if he could arrange a get-together so that I could give them their Christmas presents. Though Christmas has been over for a week already, and New Years was coming up.
Shige frowned, "I'm sorry, I didn't get anything for you Shinta-chan."
I waved my hand back and forth, "Oh, it's okay! I don't mind. I got the excitement of shopping for all of you, so it's fine." I smiled brightly. I hadn't smiled this purely in a long time. I opened my eyes and saw Yamashita-kun looking at me; I quickly looked away and started talking to Koyama. "So, why don't we open presents now? We can eat afterwards..."
"Ah that sounds good."
"Hai, hai!" I quickly got up and excitedly went to my big duffle bag. I took out Tegoshi-kun's and Massu's and put their presents to the side. "This is for Nishikido-kun....eh..this is for Koyama-kun, and this one for Shige-san." I glanced at Yamashita-kun, not looking into his eyes. 'It seems like he keeps looking at me. I feel so nervous...' "This is...for y-you..." I handed him his present then went back to my seat. He smiled at me.
They all yelled in happiness. I didn't think they could make me this happy, but somehow I felt sad. It suddenly felt like I shouldn't be here. I looked up and took a moment to look at each of them; they really were celebrities. They smiled like celebrities, they laughed like celebrities, they even smelled like celebrities! Should I really be here with them like this? 'If something were to happen with me and Yamashita-kun I couldn't see them like this any more...No...I can't think like this!'
"I'm glad you like your presents. Those sunglasses are popular brands from America. I had my dad send them over."
"Miya-chan is amazing!" Koyama yelled in happiness.
"Oh, and I forgot to ask, but did any of you have plans for New Years? My Mom said she'd cook for you all."
"Eh, you didn't tell her," Shige asked surprisingly.
I looked immidiately at Yamashita-kun, "Tell me what?"
He put his hand up and closed his eyes, "Gomen ne Miya-chan, I can't spend New Years with you. You probably don't know because you're from America, but Johnny's does a New Year's Countdown. We'll be in it."
Nishikido-kun smiled, "Ah~ you should come!"
"Eto, it's okay. I told my Mom that I would welcome the New Year with her... so..." My shoulders shrunk in as I place my hands on my knees. I was starting to become upset and dissapointed. How long has it been since Yamashita-kun and I have actually been together for more than 15 minutes? This isn't fair!
"Eh... Miya-chan?"
My heart tightened as I shut out my feelings. I smiled that fake smile again. "I hope everything goes okay! And don't forget to eat some hotpot!"
Koyama laughed, "Of course! Ah, you need to open the stuff we got you!
"Ehh?! You didn't need to get me anything."
They got their presents and put them in front of me. I felt like I was going to cry, but held it back.
---------------------
Yamashita-kun was walking me home now. It was just short of 9 o'clock, though it felt later in the night. I clenched my empty duffle bag as I thought about what he told me about New Years.
"Should I carry that for you?" His words were soft, but this time I didn't feel soothed by them.
"No, I can carry it. It's empty. Remember, I'd carried it when it was full..."
"What's wrong? You seem mad..."
"No..."
"Then why haven't you looked at me at all tonight? Even more so, when I told you I couldn't spend New Year's with you."
"I don't get it Yamapi. Hmm...Yamapi... it seems like everyone knows the name Yamapi..."
"Miya-chan?"
"Why does it seem like it doesn't matter to you? How come none of it matters?"
"Eh, what are you talking about? New Years?"
"Hai."
"Work is work."
I couldn't help but laugh sarcastically. My feelings were starting to crash out of that wall I had unintentionally built this whole time. I repeated his words, "Work is work'? How can you be so cold?"
"How am I being cold? Miya-chan..." He stopped walking and grabbed my arm to stop me as well. He tilted my face so that he could see my eyes. He saw the pain behind them and tightened his jaw. "What do you want me to do?"
I closed my eyes shut and tears fell out, "I wish you weren't the famous Yamapi! It's not FAIR!"
I gasped aloud as soon I yelled those words. I opened my eyes as I felt his hand leave my face. His hand slid down my neck, to my collar bone, then stopped on the silver necklace-Kyou's necklace- that I was wearing.
"This looks beautiful on you. You said Kyou gave this to you, right?"
"Yamashita...kun..I'm-"
"Let's get you home."
We walked in silence. As I looked up we were already at my house.
"Yamashita-kun..."
"I hope you sleep well tonight. You have a double shift?"
I looked up at him and even though he smiled, his eyes didn't. I'd done it. 'I'm the worst.' At this thought I couldn't stop myself from crying. Tears poured out; my breath was heavy in the air. What's going to happen now? I got up on my tiptoes and kissed him hard on the lips. More tears came out as he didn't kiss me back. I backed away, put my hand on my lips then ran away; I qickly got into my house to hide from him.
I crashed to the floor; my legs couldn't hold me up any more. "I'm sorry..." 'I really am the worst...'
Yamashita-kun stood still. He struggled to keep himself from crying. Only a single tear escaped. He clenched his hands into fists, "I'm the worst..."
A/N: This chapter was the most difficult to write so far.
I had to stop in the middle of it, and take a breather.
gomen ne~ it was a bit short as well as depressing.
Ps. The next chapter might be the last. I haven't made up my mind whether to split it up into two chapters or not. We'll see. Just check the title, if its says FINAL then that's that.
Ahhh, so close to the last!
Thank you for sticking with me.
A/N: Okay the next few parts might become confusing. I'm planning to skip a few things. Meaning, I'll skip to around Christmas Time, then to New Years. I don't want to diddle-daddle. Plus, in this beginning part it's a flashback kind of scene. Hahaha. DOUZO!
I sat at my warm table and waited for my tea to be done. I curled up under the blanket and closed my eyes. It really was easy to fall asleep here. As I laid my head down and shut my eyes I could help but think of what Yamashita-kun told me a week ago.
[[ Yamashita-kun grabbed my cold hands and warmed them up in between his. I looked up into his eyes then towards his mouth as he breathed in and out. It was that time of year- you could see your breath in the air.
"I'm glad you came to see me," I said as I lowered my head. "What's up?" I smiled. As I did, it had felt strange. My mouth smiled, but my eyes didn't. I guess I got so use to it...
"Are you okay?"
"H-hai. I'm okay."
"Well, I wanted you to be the first to know. I won't be here for Christmas."
"E-eh...?"
"Gomen ne, We've got a new single coming out, so the agency wants us to promote it around Japan. So we'll be in Osaka at the time I think. Ah~ I can't remember." He looked down at me, though couldn't see my face because of my hair blocking his way. He removed his hands from mine to move my hair away from my face. "Gomen ne...I-"
I lifted my face and laughed. He was surprised by my reaction. "Eh? I thought you would be sad!" I poked his cheek and giggled, "Well this works out... You don't like Christmas, right?"
"Well, yeah...but that doesn't mean that I don't want to be with you on Christmas..."
"We can just give each other presents after you come back. I'll make a cake too!"
He smiled and seemed satisfied enough with my response. "Hai." ]]
"Ugh...should I have just told him that I don't like that at all? It would be our frist Christmas together..." I shook my head on the table making my hair go everywhere.
"What do you think you're doing," My Mom asked as she came out of the bathroom. "You look like the IT." She laughed and headed into the kitchen.
"Mama, is my tea done," I asked as I lifted my head to look at her.
"Yeah, I'll get it ready for you."
"Arigatou...." I put my head back down on the table.
"What's got you so down honey? I've noticed you've been out of sorts lately."
"Mooooooom!" I turned my head and sighed, "You're working on Christmas right? Like, just in case someone comes in for an emergency?"
"Yes, my hours don't add up so this was the only way to work it out. But don't worry, you'll have Yamapi right?" She lifted her hand to her face and blushed. "I wouldn't want to come in between the two of you.... You'd want privacy...right?" She started laughing and came over to the table to hand me my tea.
"You're embarrassing." I lifted my body and stretched.
"So tell me, what do the two of you plan to do for Christmas? OH wait!" My Mom suddenly got up to go to her room and hurried back. "You're Father mailed this in for Christmas. You should probably call him soon to say you gotPost an Entry it, okay?"
"Okay Mama."
"Oh, the holidays always lift my spirits. Plus, I've got the most beautiful girl in the world to share them with me."
"Again, embarrassing."
We laughed. 'I'm glad she got onto another topic...I didn't know what I was going to say... I don't want her to know that I'll be alone this Christmas. She would be upset and sad. But I guess it won't be all that bad. I can just go to bed early, wake up early and make a good breakfast. Wow, I sound pathetic.'
Bzzt Bzzt Bzzt
"Eh, that's me!" I reached over to my purse and got my cell phone. "Tegoshi-kun?"
"That boy is too cute for his own good."
I smiled as I agreed. I opened my phone to read his text message. >Domo! (^o^) What's your favorite color?< "This has to be about Christmas." He's too obvious. "Light colors," I said as I clicked away on my cell. "Light pink, light blue, and yellow. Those kinds of colors. Send!"
"That's sweet, he's getting something for you too! Oh, my baby girl is so lucky." My Mom held her hand up to her face again and smiled.
As soon as I closed my phone it started ringing. "Eh, I'm popular today. Hello?"
"MIYAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Let's go shopping." I pulled away quickly, trying to save my hearing.
"Nina! Shhhh you're being loud again. And shopping?"
She giggled, "Yeah, for Christmas!"
'I do need to go shopping...but do I want to go with Nina?' "Umm, okay, I'll go. Where should I meet you?"
--------------------------------------
I looked around and soon saw Nina waving wildly in the air. As I took a couple of steps closer I could see Kyou and Ai-chan were with her. 'Great...Kyou's here too...Make a note to kill Nina when I have the time.'
"There you are!" Nina pointed to me, causing some people to look at me. I hurried to her and hit the top of her head.
"Cut it out Nina, you're making too much noise."
Ai-chan put her hand on my arm, "Nina always get's this way around the holidays..."
"I will find someone this season! I refuse to be alone!"
"Eh?" How does this girl think?
Kyou started laughing, "You sound desperet. That's so not attractive."
Nina smacked Kyou hard on the head, "Don't be a jerk." She stomped away; Ai-chan and I made a sneering laugh towards Kyou as we left after Nina.
"Girls are scary...."
An hour later we were deep in the city; we each had a couple of bags. I had to admit this was fun. I was starting to believe that the holiday season could cheer anybody up. Stores were decorated in green, red, blue and gold. Things seemed to have more sparkle to them. As I looked around I could see Christmas trees decorated with all kinds of colorful ornaments, not to mention mulitple Santa's walking around handing out flyers.
"It seems like they're are more couples around this time," I said as I looked at those around me. There were lots of couples, holding hands, smiling, and laughing.
"Well thats because people don't want to be alone." I looked up at Kyou as he spoke words or truth. "Humans are fools."
"What's got you so upset? I kind of agree though... some people lower their standards just to be with someone. But there are those, who because they fear being alone, get the courage to confess their true feelings to the person that they like. I think those people are admirable."
"Miya I-"
Nina suddenly ran back to Kyou and I and grabbed my arm, "Look look at the holiday sale they're having over here! Come on!" I let Nina drag me away from Kyou to a crowded store.
I walked in and immidiately felt hot. There were a lot of people inside the store, so a lot of body heat. I unbottoned my plad red jacket and took off my beanie. Ai-chan was suddenly next to me complaining. "That. grandma.. I had my hands on it first...if she wasn't old I would have made a bigger struggle for it."
I laughed, "What? That's crazy. Oh." My gaze was suddenly on a shiny silver necklace. It had a small blue stone hanging from it. "That's beautiful." As I was about to grab it a middle-aged woman grabbed it. "Oh, umm-" The woman looked at me with stressed eyes so I bowed, "I'm sorry." I turned around quickly and walked back to Ai-chan.
"I hope we don't get that scary when we get older!" I laughed at her. Who knew Ai-chan could be that funny?
At the end of the day I was able to get something for all of NEWS, and my Mom. I still needed to get something for Yamashita-kun, Nina, Ai-chan, and Kyou. 'Should I really get something for him? He probably won't get anything for me... plus he's always mean to me.' "Maybe I will..he'd only get something from his family... I'm way too nice."
--------------------------------
"It seems like everyone is getting into the holiday spirit! We caught Shinta, Miya shopping at the Square with her friends." I suddenly glued my face to the TV as I heard my name. A clip played, it showed the four of us drinking coffee and heading into another store. You could see how much shopping we did. "You don't suppose she was shopping for Yamapi?" The Woman announcer smiled then continued on, "We also caught-"
I let out a sigh. "Thank goodness that they didn't make a big deal out of it." My phone suddenly started ringing. "I got a feeling it's..." I picked up my phone, "Nina. Hello?" I immidiately held the phone away from my ear.
"WE WERE ON TV! DID YOU SEE ME!!??"
"Hai hai hai." I laughed.
I talked with Nina much longer than I normally did, but it was nice as we talked.
"I'm sorry Nina, but I'm going to go take a bath then head to bed."
"Christmas is tomorrow!! Have a good one, I'll call you tomorrow."
"Okay, bye bye."
"Bye bye!"
I think that's the deepest sleep I've ever had. I went to bed relaxed from my hot bubble bath. I dreamed about being with My Mom, my firends, NEWS and Yamashita-kun. Yamapi.....
-----------------------------
I woke up bright and early. "Merry Christmas Miya." I stretched high into the air then got up to change and wash my face and teeth. After the morning ritual, I went to the kitchen and started cooking. Mom had alredy left for the day. "Maybe I should go see her at the hospital... We'll see." I turned on the TV and flipped through the channels. I had left it on the morning news as I started cooking.
I had just finished cooking when I heard a knock on my door. I was alert, "Who could..." I silently went to the door and asked aloud, "Yes? Who is it?"
"It's Kyou."
"Kyou?" 'What the heck is this guy doing here?' I straightened up and opened the door. "Kyou, why are you here?"
"And a Merry Christmas to you too." He smiled.
"Ah...Merry Christmas. Now, the reason why you're here?"
"Oh, it smells good!" He lightly pushed me aside and walked in. "Excuse me!"
"Eh! Kyou, don't just walk in like it's your house!" I closed the door to shut away the bitter cold. "Get out of here Kyou. Shouldn't you be with your family?" I crossed my arms.
"Eh, no. We gave each other presents yesterday. Besides I wanted to see you."
He turned around to look at me; my eyes widened and I kept blinking. "Kyou..."
He suddenly came closer to me and held out a little box. It had a red ribbon wrapped around it. "I got this for you. Here." He turned his head and coughed a bit. Was he blushing? He looked better this way.
I took the little black box and untied the ribbon. I opened it and saw that same necklace with the blue stone on it, like on the day we had all gone shopping.
"Kyou...How did you....?" I looked up from the necklace to his smiling face. He winked at me.
"Secret."
My phone had started ringing, I hadn't even noticed it.
"Why isn't she answering," Yamashita-kun asked aloud.
Why are things getting so mixed up?
A/N: Ehhhhh? What the heck is Kyou doing there! Why KYOU!!?
Mmm, Yamapi.... we'll see more of him and NEWS in the next chapter i believe
>>FYI<<
Well, I'm almost done with the story. Just a few more chapters and I believe I'll be done.
Noooooo! hahaha.
We're coming up to the climax now, so be prepared!!
chuuu chuuuu<33333
"I've noticed that you look at your phone a lot. You've been doing it more often..."
I knew what she was getting at. "Umm, yeah. I guess I've been doing it a lot." I put my phone back in my purse and held my books tighter to my chest. I shouldn't bring down the mood this way. "So! Did you want to do anything today? I'm free from work, and my Mom has the late shift..."
"That's my girl!" Nina patted my back pretty hard as she laughed. "Let's go to karaoke!"
Ai-chan started to slowly walk away, but Nina hurried to her and caught her jacket, "I don't think so Missy! You never hang out with us. And I know you don't have work today either!"
I looked at them as they bickered. It's good to have them near me. It helps with distracting me. Is that selfish?
-------------------------------
"It will be us three, please!" Nina seemed to know what she was doing. To tell you the truth, I had never been to karaoke before. They don't exactly have them in the States like they do here. Plus, I don't think I sing that well.
A man lead us to a room and pointed out a few things. "Is there anything I can get you to drink. Or maybe some appetizers?"
"I'll take a beer," Nina said loudly. This girl really knew how to let go, didn't she?
"I'll just have a water," Ai-chan said quietly.
"I'll take a soda please."
"You two are hopeless! Come on, let's party!"
The man bowed then left to get our drinks. After a couple of hours, Nina was definately tipsy.
"Nina, you need to learn how to handle alcohol..." I was concerned for her. Plus, she needed to have more consideration for Ai-chan and I. Who was going to get her home? But I guess that's part of her charm. Maybe.
"I'll say...she's always been like this. Nina, you're too loud." Ai-chan went to the front to take away the mic from her drunk friend.
They're bickering mixed into the music; but none of it seemed loud to me. I blocked it all out as I took my phone out again to look at my phone. He hasn't called me, or even sent a mail in the past couple of days... what could he be doing? I don't want to keep calling...I'll come off as one of those girlfriends... 'Maybe I should go to his house...but I might be intruding...' "Ah, y-yes?!"
"Do you mind calling my brother. He's the only one who can carry her..." Ai-chan said as she was helping Nina lie down on the sofa. "This girl is a pain...."
"M-me?! Umm, why can't you do it?" She gave me a look like I've-got-her-to-handle. I opened my phone and dialed his number.
"What's up?"
"Uh, hi."
"Ah Miya-chan...are you lonely? Want me to keep you company again?"
'This guy is so....Keep calm. Control the anger...' "You need to come help us out. Nina got drunk and we can't take her back home...."
"Oohhhhh, so you need me to rescue you. Is that it?"
"Like I'd ever call you to rescue me!" I clenched my fist. He makes me so angry sometimes.
"Alright ,alright I'm on my way."
--------------------------------
Kyou arrived to what he called our "rescue."
"Sugoi Nina! She looks bad..." He walked over to the drunk Sleeping Beauty. "Hey sis, help me put her on my back. I'll give her a piggy back ride home."
"Okay." Ai-chan did as told. She sighed, "Nina stop slobbering. You'd think she was a little child." She started lifting her up but with some problems. I crossed the room and helped out.
Kyou started complaining, "Aww man, she better not slobber on me!"
I laughed, "Too late."
"She owes me! This brat..." He shifted a bit then stood up with Nina on his back.
Ai-chan cleaned her glasses then started talking to us, "You two go ahead, I'll catch up. I'll take care of the bill."
"Oh, here's my share," I said I crossed the room again to get my wallet. I put my wallet back and checked my cell phone again. A little sigh came out, but I covered it up with a cough.
"I'm gonna make Nina pay extra for all the mess she caused."
Kyou nodded his head, "Yeah that's right! Fee's!" He laughed at himself as he headed out the door.
----------------------------------------
Ai-chan hadn't caught up to us as we walked. I stopped and looked back, "Don't you think we should wait for your sister?"
"She's not a child. She can walk by herself. Plus I don't think thugs will go after her. She's scary."
I smiled. "That's not very nice."
"They why are you smiling?"
"Mmm...Kyou...smells good. Nooooo!" We both stopped as Nina was making a bunch of noise.
"Even when she sleeps, she's so annoying." Kyou lifted her up higher and kept walking. "She definately owes me."
"I kind of envy her though." I walked slowly behind him.
"What? Why?"
"She's able to say what she wants. Plus, she seems to have so much confidence in herself. I wish I was like that."
"You're refering to that pretty boy of yours right?"
Hmph. I started walking faster and passed him. "Don't be jealous! Just because of his looks!"
"That's not why I'm jealous..." He mumbled quietly.
"What?" I turned back to him. "You'll need to speak up."
"Is that what you like? Pretty boys?"
"What? No... I like nice guys. A guy who has manners and is sweet. Nothing like you." I turned around and began walking again. What was he trying to get at...
"I can be a nice guy..." Kyou's voice seemed softer than usual.
"That's hard to believe. There's no way!"
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah!"
"Then what about that Pretty Boy! If he's so nice and considerate, how come he's left you constantly looking at your phone? You look like a lost dog..." Kyou suddenly stopped as he realised what he said. But it was too late. I was already upset and on the brink of tears. He hit it right on the nail.
"A dog, huh?! That's what you think? I-" I was so mad that I wasn't sure what to say. Some tears fell in my frustration. "Whatever! I'm leaving!"
"Wait!" He called after me as I ran away. "Damnit...why do we always end up arguing?"
"Kyou...is the worst..." Nina mumbled in her sleep.
He sighed. "I know..."
------------------------------------
I ended up going to his house. I stood in front of the gate and looked at the house in front of me. It didn't look like anyone was there. 'Maybe I should just leave...I don't know why I even came here..' I sighed as I knew why I came. "I'm pretty hopeless..."
"Miya-chan?"
I quickly looked to my right and saw Rina. I smiled, "Rina."
"What are you doing, just standing in front of my house?" She walked to me and grabbed my hand. She laughed as she opened the gate. "Come on. Let's go in, the wind is picking up."
"Okay."
"I'm home," Rina announced as no one responded. She took off her heels and went to the kitchen. "Want something to drink? Maybe some coffee. It's getting colder, huh?"
"No I'm okay. Thanks."
"I don't really like the cold. I can't handle it."
I smiled as I saw the resemblance between them. "He can't either."
"That's right. So we are related." She giggled as she started up the expensive-looking coffee maker.
"So what brings you here," Rina asked as she plopped on the big couch. "You can sit down."
I did as instructed, "No reason really..."
"I bet you want to see what he got you. Ah, he's so lucky leaving at a time like this. I bet he's surfing..."
"What?" I looked at her in confusion. "Surfing?"
She sat up and crossed her legs, "Yeah. He's In Hawaii right now. All the guys went. Didn't he tell you?"
"NEWS?"
"Yeah...huh. That's strange I figured he'd tell you..."
"Oh Yeah! He did tell me, I just forgot is all." I laughed.
"I knew it! Sheesh, getting me concerned..." Rina giggled and leaned over to get the remote control to turn on the TV. "Would you like to stay for dinner? My Mom should be getting back soon..."
"Oh no I couldn't."
"Please. Stop that. My Mom would like it if you did."
"Well, I can't say no now..." I smiled.
Even though I showed her a smile I wasn't happy at all. 'He's in Hawaii right now? Why didn't he tell me? Is it something he couldn't tell me about? No, I don't think it would be anything like that...Maybe he just forgot to tell me. But leaving the country isn't something you just forget about. He has been really busy lately. I mean the past couple of weeks he hasn't called me when he was going to bed. It's understandable. He's tired. I can't get in his way...but still. Is it that easy to forget about me?'
I felt myself slipping. I was becoming more and more anxious and insecure. Why did it feel like there was a gap between us? It felt like there was a distance growing. But the truth of the matter is that we are in different worlds.
This was just the beginning...
I was becoming a pro at faking smiles.
A/N: So sad!!! I know I know! Darn you Pi! >o<
The next couple of chapters will be like this, and her struggles.
Sorry there's not Pi nor NEWS. I figure I lay out her worries.
Hang in there! I do promise a happy ending. Hahahaha
chuuuuu<333
"I will." And he hung up.
I closed my phone then looked down at the basket that held the bentos that I had made. 'I can't eat all of this...' "This sucks." I threw my phone in the basket then started walking back home. As I was almost there, my phone started ringing. "Ah~hello?"
"Ah, hello."
"Nishikido-kun?! You rarely call me..." I pulled my phone away with suprise and looked at the screen.
"H-hai...ano, Yamapi asked me to call you...are you free right now?"
"Mmm!"
I waved as he walked up to me. "So, he asked you to keep me company in his place? I'm suprised you're free. Seeing you're in two groups.."
"I have the day off today"
"I'm sorry if you had plans. Yamashita-kun...got busy again." I wanted to frown, but held back the feeling.
"That's what happens when you're famous." He smiled.
"Sometimes I forget that..." I smiled back. "So, have you eaten," I asked as I held up the basket.
We found a nearby open field and set up a small picnic by a big tree. Even though it was suppose to be Yamashita-kun, it was still nice to have Nishikido-kun. On the outside it feels like he has a rough exterior, but he is actually quite a gentleman.
"Sugoi ne~ you made all of this? Ah, if you don't mind..." He put his hands together then started digging in. "Oh, Umai!"
A big smile came on my face, "I'm glad you like it!" I nodded then started eating along with him.
While we were eating I suddenly got a call.
"Excuse me," I said to Ryo. "Hello?"
"MIYA!!"
I pulled to phone away quickly. 'Who the heck is this?' I slowly put the phone back to my ear, "Hello?"
"Don't you recognise my voice? It's Kyou."
"Kyou?! How did you get my number?"
At the time I didn't realise that Nishikido-kun was paying close attention to me.
"I got it from my sister, who got it from Loud Mouth. So what's up?!"
"Kyou, I can't talk right now. I've got company." I was about to hang up when I heard him make a noise. "What?"
"The reason why I'm calling is because I needed to ask for a favor."
"A favor?"
"I'm having some problems with this homework, so can you help me out?"
I sighed, "Why can't Ai-chan help you?"
"I'll wait for you at that small deli...you know which one. Later!"
I looked down at my phone; the screen was blinking signaling the end of the call. 'He's hopeless...'
"A friend?" Ryo reached over to get a riceball.
"No, not really. Well, I don't know. He's the brother of a friend....We have a class together." I continued eating.
"I see."
I looked up and saw him looking at me with a serious face. I instinctively looked down to continue eating.
We finished eating and packed everything up. I bowed and thanked him. He really was nice. "Thank you so much for having lunch with me. Let's try it again."
"Are you sure you don't want me to go with you?"
"No, but thanks for offering. It's enough that you came. Well, see you." I waved my hand and started walking away.
I got to the deli and didn't see Kyou. "Where could he be?" Suddenly there were hands over my eyes.
"Guess who?!"
I pulled away, "Kyou, stop acting 5."
"Haaiii~" He smiled. "I'm glad you came."
I sighed, but forced myself to smile. "So where are your things?"
"I lied," he said in English. "Let's go out, come on"
"What?!" He suddenly took my basket away and started walking away. "Wait!"
"Were you on a date with you famous Boyfriend?"
I ran after him, "Not like that's any of your business, but no. Now give me back my things!"
"After we go to the arcade."
I felt myself being dragged along at his pace.
He laughed at me, "You suck at this game!"
"Shut up." I concentrated on the game and was pressing the buttons repeatedly. I wasn't good at these things. "Ahh, I lost again."
"Yeah...you're bad..." He laughed some more as I stomped away.
"Is there a game you're not good at?"
"Ah~ that." He pointed and I followed.
"The grab thing?"
I ran over to it and put in some change. "I bet I'm good at this..." I directed the crane towards a little bunny keychain. I held my breath as the crane went down. I grabbed on and lifted up. "Yay! Go go!" The crane dropped the bunny keychain, and I happily got it out of the slot. "I told you I'm good..."
"Yeah, yeah. Move over, let me try." He used his body to push me to the side.
I laughed as it took him 10 times to actually get something. "You are bad at something! Took you long enough. Plus, you got something a little kid would want." I giggled. He looked at me and smiled. I stopped laughing then looked away. "So, can I have my things back?"
"I suppose, it's late anyways. I should get you home."
"Late?" I looked down at my watch, it was already 7 o'clock. "I told Mom I'd cook dinner!" I grabbed my basket and started running towards the exit.
"Hey, not so fast. Wait for me."
"I can walk home by myself, Kyou."
"Maybe, but I won't worry about you. You'll get robbed or something...you're the type thugs go after."
I looked at his back as he walked in front of me. I don't understand him. It's as if he chooses when he wants to be nice; when it's most convienant for him... "Okay..."
"This is me, I'll see you later."
"This old building," he asked as he kicked the side of it.
"Hey, cut it out!"
"Miya?" I heard my name called in the only voice that could send shivers down my spine; Yamashita-kun's.
"Y-Yamashita-kun?!" I ran over to him. "What are you doing here?"
"I've been calling you and text you, but you never answered. I was worried..." He looked over at Kyou.
"Really? I haven't heard anything?" I reached in the basket and noticed my ringer had be turned off. "How-"
"Yeah, I did that."
We both looked at him. I looked up at Yamashita-kun; his lips pressed hard together and his forehead tightened. I quickly spoke before he could, "Don't touch my things like that without permission."
"Yes ma'am. Well I'll leave you to it." He threw up a peace sign behind him as he walked away.
"He's the one in your class, right?"
"H-hai..."
"Well, he's seems difficult, ne?" He closed his eyes and gave a soft smile.
"Right." My heart felt lighter now that he was near me. I realised that I had only seen him at school every now and then. "I've missed you."
"Me too."
"So, how are you going to make it up to me?" I giggled.
"Mmm..." He suddenly picked me up and spun me around.
We laughed together.
I hadn't realised that Kyou saw us. I hadn't realised his feelings.
A/N: this is quite quite short. I'm sorry.
And I'm sorry for the delay once again, when I said I'd keep it quick...
But I promise the next chapter will be longer. and hopefully quicker. haha
And sorry if there are mistakes i didnt re-read! It's Spring Break! haha.
chuuuu<333
“Ah~ so we don’t have any classes together…” Yamashita-kun seemed disappointed, as was I. I poked him in the forehead and smiled, “Well don’t worry so much. At least we’re both here at the same times…” ‘Right?’
“Yeah that’s true. I’ll try walking you to each class.”
“Promise?” I stuck my pinky finger out.
“Promise.” He hooked his pinky with mine and we shook on it.
“Well let’s get going or we’ll be late!”
As we arrived to the door of my class, those walking in kept staring. ‘I’ve got a feeling that people are going to ask questions…’ Yamashita-kun seemed to notice my worries. He poked my cheek then leaned in to whisper, “Don’t worry about them, okay?” My heart felt like it was going to explode. It looked like that the spectators were going to explode along with me. “Okay.”
I entered class and felt a shiver go down my back as those already inside looked at me. I looked at the board and there didn’t seem to be any seating assignment, so I chose a seat by the windows. It was better to look outside than inside, where all my new classmates were. ‘I hope there won’t be any problems. I know I’ve got supporters, but I also know that there are some who don’t like me. I wonder if I’ll make any friends… I hope I do. Rina can’t always make free time for me. Ah~ I hope she’s having fun in Hawaii… Pi said he likes going there…he surfs…I’d like to see him. I’ll probably have a heart attack…’ “Ah~ h-hai,” I asked as my attention got pulled to two girls standing in front of me.
“I can’t believe we have the same class as you! Can we sit here?” I looked at both the girls and smiled, “Yeah, that’s fine.” The one who asked sat in front of me and her friend sat next horizontally to her.
The girl who was excited to see me had dyed light brown hair with highlights in it. She was tall, tanned, and wore clothes that flattered her figure. The other girl seemed calmer and more quiet compared to her friend; almost like an opposite. She had short jet-black hair with a headband that matched her red glasses, light skin, about the same height as me, and loose fitting clothes. I have to admit, she looked comfortable.
“My name is Aikawa, Nina.” Nina then held her hand out to her quiet friend, “And this is Danji, Ai.” Ai bowed her head slightly to greet me. I did the same. “It’s good to meet you I’m-“ “Shinta, Miya, right?” Nina laughed loudly. ‘This girl seems to like talking a lot.’ I giggled.
Nina twisted around and spouted, “So I just wanted to say that I’m a complete supporter of YamaMi! You two are so cute together. And I’m so sorry about what happened this past summer. I think that girl tried to poison you!”
“No, no. It wasn’t like that. I just had an allergic reaction is all. But thank you for your support Aikawa-san.”
“OH! Just call me Nina! Okay?” She patted my shoulder and laughed. I smiled lightly. I then looked at Danji-san. “Umm, what should I call you?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“Then I’ll call you Ai-chan, okay?”
“Okay.”
‘Whoa…talk about a difference in personalities…how are they friends? I’ve seen stranger things I suppose.’ I shrugged in my mind and smiled. “I hope we can be good classmates.”
“Of course we can!”
The teacher entered the class as the bell rang. “Good morning students!” The class said good morning back to their sensei. “This is English! So I expect by the end of this term to have a good conversation with you all.”
I smiled. ‘This should be fun and easy. I was actually excited signing up for this class…I need it in order to graduate. Hehe.’
Nina had her back against the windows, and turned to me to whisper (which I didn’t consider whispering), “Ah! You know English pretty well right? You’re from America!”
“I guess I’m just lucky.”
“I’ll say…” She smiled brightly.
That class went by fast enough; we didn’t really do anything but introduce ourselves to each other. It was the first day of the new term after all. I stood up and gathered my things.
“So what class do you have next Miya?” Nina smiled as she asked her question.
“I have economics on the third floor.”
“Ewww economics is hard. I took it last semester and I barely passed the class.”
We got to the door and I turned to respond to her, “I think I’ll be okay. I did well in American Economics. I hoping it’ll be the same, but we’ll see. Right, Ai-chan?” I felt I had to include her into the conversation.
“You should be alright.” She pushed her glasses up.
“Thanks for the confidence!” The I heard Nina gasp. “What’s wrong?” I followed her eyesight and saw Yamashita-kun standing across the hallway, leaning on the wall. ‘How the heck did he get here so fast?’
“You’re starting off good!” I laughed as I walked over to him. “Nina, Ai-chan I’ll see you later.” I looked back at them and waved.
He got up from the wall and looked at the two girls then back to me. “Fans of yours?” He smiled sarcastically.
“Ha. Ha. No, they’re some classmates that sit next to me. They seem friendly enough. So shall we? I’ve got to go to the third floor.”
“Hai.”
As before, the students walking into my class stared at the two of us. It felt like we were the popular couple at school. I blushed at my childish thinking.
“What are you blushing for?”
“Oh, no reason.” I turned away so that he couldn’t see me grinning. I’m so dumb.
“I get it, Hentai!”
“Eeh?!” He laughed at me.“Baka.”
There was no seating arrangement in this class either so I sat preferably around where I did in the last class. As I was walking there I saw Ai-chan.
“Ai-chan?! Why didn’t you tell me we had the same class?”
“This isn’t the only economics class…I didn’t know.” She took off her glasses to clean them.
“Oh I guess you’re right. Sorry. But this is a nice surprise. Mind if I sit behind you?” I smiled.
“No, it’s okay.”
I sat down behind her and felt a bit disappointed. ‘It seems she doesn’t talk a lot. I should try making conversation with her!’ “So, how did you and Nina become friends? You two seem to have different personalities.”
She turned slightly to face me. “We went to the same high school.”
“So like childhood friends?”
“I wouldn’t call it that. I guess just good acquaintances.”
“Oh, I’m sorry for assuming.”
“It’s okay. Most people do.” I thought I had seen her smile, but maybe I made it up in my mind.
‘She seems nice enough, just doesn’t seem to be used to talking to others. I wonder if she’s an only child.’ Before I could continue my thoughts she started talking again.
“Gomen ne sai~ I don’t mean to be rude.”
“Mm, it’s okay. You weren’t. I’m glad we’re in the same class again.”
Classes were over and I waited outside by the main gate for Pi, but he didn't show up. "~Yamapi will always take care of Miya-chan~~because Yamapi likes Miya-chan the most! The-" I fumbled around my purse and grabbed my phone as those passing by me gave me wierd looks.
"Ah~h-hello?" I felt very rushed.
"I'm sorry, but I forgot to tell you that I was going to leave early today to go out to eat with some people from the drama."
"Oh, well that's fine. Have fun."
I looked and saw Ai-chan walking with Nina and some guy. Nina waved and ran over to me. "Miya!!"
I waved back, "Hey!"
"Who's that?"
"Oh remember those girls from earlier, it's them."
"Miya, are you heading home now? We'll go together. Oh by the way, this is Ai's twin brother."
"Twin?" There goes my theory that she's an only child. I looked at the tall, thin guy in front of me. He had short black spiky hair and was light-skinned like his sister. You could tell they were related.
"Hey, my name's Danji, Kyou" His voice was lower than I was expecting it.
"Hello."
"Well, I've got to go. I'll call you later, okay?"
"I'll be waiting."
I hung up, with Nina about to explode in front of me. "That was him, wasn't it! Ooh how adorable!" She was squealing like a little kid in a candy store.
"Nina, you're being loud again," Ai-chan said as she pushed up her glass. "Well I need to get going, I've got work."
"Ai, you're being such a party pooper! That's fine. Miya, Kyou and I will have fun without you!"
"Be my guests. Bye." She raised her hand then walked around the gate.
"How do you put up with her Kyou?" She stomped her foot and crossed her arms.
"Years of practice, I suppose."
I chuckled at his comment. I could see where he was coming from. You'd get used to being around her.
"It's not so funny....Well! Wanna go to karaoke?!"
"Actually, I can't I told my Mom I'd cook tonight since I've been busy with work lately." I put my hand up in front of my face to apologize.
Kyou did the same, "Yeah I was out late last night and got caught so I'm being punished."
"No fair!"
---------------
Nina split from Kyou and I. She left making a bunch of noise of course.
"So, how late were you that got you in trouble?" I looked up at the tall Kyou.
"No, that was a lie. She's a horrible singer." He winked.
"Ehh?? That's not very nice..."
"Well I've known her as long as Ai, so I think it's okay." He put his hands in his pockets and leaned down a bit to talk. "So, you're that Yamapi's girl, right? Nina was saying something about it...like bragging or something."
"His girl? Well yes, I'm his girlfriend." I felt a little offended by the way he asked. But trying to make light of things, "So do you know NEWS?"
"Ehh? No way. I don't like that pop crap. I prefere heavier things than that," he scoffed.
"Well excuse me for asking Danji-san!" I started walking, or more like stomping, away.
I heard him laugh at me and take quick steps to catch up. "Danji-san is my Old Man. Call me Kyou." I didn't respond as I quickened the pace. He caught my arm and haulted me. "Hey, I'm sorry I offended you. I tend to just speak my mind."
I turned so quick that my hair whipped around and I glared at him. "I don't care if you insult me or call me names, but don't insult Yamashita-kun or NEWS. They're close to me!"
He looked at me in silence and let his grip loosen. I pulled my arm away from him and walked away. 'What a jerk.'
---------------
It was two days later and I waved bye to Yamashita-kun as he left for his class. I entered and Nina was waiting for me, she seemed hyper like before.
"Good morning!"
I sat down and smiled to her, "Good morning Nina. And good morning Ai-chan."
"Morning..." She didn't look at me as she was busy reading a book.
The bell rang to signal the start of class, and Sensei entered as it rang. "Good morning class!"
"Good morning Sensei," we all said in unison. But our attention went to the opening door.
"No...way...."
Nina waved, "Kyou!"
"Sorry I'm late..." He looked over at Nina then noticed me staring. He smiled.
Sensei put down her papers, "Well don't let it happen again. Please take a seat."
"Sure." He walked past her and took the empty seat right next to me, behind his sister.
'This isn't going to be good....'
He turned to me and gave me the peace sign, "Yo. I guess we'll be classmates." He grinned.
A/N: didn't check for mistakes, hope theres not alot.
My eyelids felt very heavy as I tried to open them. They kept shutting without my permission. After a minute or so I finally mangaged to open them wide. I looked around and saw no one; only a TV secured to the corner or the room, a table with about a dozen colorful flowers on it, and a couple of chairs. I pushed myself up into a sitting position. At first I could see more flowers on the flower, but my attention got pulled to my hands. I looked down to see IVs stuck through them. I moved my hands to my chest and felt the cloth covering me up.
'Where am I? A hospital?' I tried to speak but my throat was so dry all I could manage was a scratchy whisper. "M-mom....?" I lifted the blankets and tried moving my legs to the side of the bed to stand but stopped as I heard the door slide open. My Mom came rushing in, "What are you doing?! Lay back down!" She pushed me down gently and covered me up with the blankets.
"W-why?"
"Here honey, drink some water...." She went to the side table beside my bed and handed me a bottle of water. I drank the warm water to cool my throat. I drank the whole bottle in one go. My Mom smiled gently when I handed her the empty bottle. "You've been here at the hospitol for a day. It's actually past Midnight right now." She said as she looked down at her watch. As she did I got a good look at her. I looked like she hadn't had any sleep for the whole day....
"Mom, what happened to me?"
"You had a reaction to that cookie you ate." Before I could start talking again she stopped me. "Rina told me. She said, 'Tell her to text me as soon as she can!' She's so pleasant, that girl is. Anyways, they had to pump your stomach to get it all out. While you were sleeping they put you on drip and have been keeping you hydrated through the IV."
"How much is it going to cost..."
"Don't even think about it. I also called your father. He said he would take care of it. He wants you to call him as well."
"Where's Yamashita-kun? I need to apologize to him..." I felt myself starting to cry. My Mom sat down on the bed and pulled me into her arms.
"He's been the most worried about you. Oh~ my baby, this isn't your fault. Okay? Do you understand me?" She pulled away and lifted my head to have me look her in the eyes.
"I understand Mama..."
"Come on, go back to sleep..."
"No Mama, I want to go home."
"The doctor did say that you could be discharged whenever you woke up..." It sounded like she was talking to herself rather than to me. "I'll go get him and a nurse. I'll be right back baby." She smiled and left, sliding the door shut behind her.
I took a deep breath in and looked around the room again. I had about over 50 flowers in the room. I wanted to go over to where they were to smell them... 'So..I had a reaction? It wasn't like, poisoned....was it?' I suddenly started having a little panic attack. But thankfully I wasn't left alone for long. The doctor came in with a big smile, "So you decide to wake up in the middle of the night!" He laughed at my sad expression. "I'm sorry, that was a bad joke. But we've got to keep our humor about us, right?"
The nurse came to me and smiled, "Don't mind him. Now this may feel a bit funny." She took out the IVs. It sent shivers down my body. But she covered it up with small gauze and put bandaids to replace the IVs. She stepped aside and the doctor came to check on me. He widened my eyes and flashed a light in them, checked my pulse, and looked down my throat. "Well it seems you've had a full recovery. Congratulations, you can be discharged now." He walked over to the end of the bed and picked up my charts to sign.
Before he left he looked at the flowers, "It seems you've got fans. Good luck." He left with a smile, followed by the nice young nurse.
"Well let me help you with your clothes and we can leave!"
"What about my flowers?" I didn't want to leave them, not even for a second.
"Well we can take some with us, and I can get the rest tomorrow morning. Is that okay?"
"Yeah."
She left my side to pick up the flowers that were on the table, "You'll want to take these ones."
I looked down and I smiled as I saw the card. It had different handwrittings on it. "Get better soon! ~Massu. Call us when you get released! We'll have to have a party! ~Koyama. Yamashita won't shut up about you, please get better for his sake. I'll watch over him for you ~Ryo. Ryo may seem mad, but he's worried too. ~Shige. MIYA-CHAN!! Drink plenty of fluids! And when you get out, I'll take you out to eat! Anywhere you want. =) ~Tegoshi-kun!"
I bit my lip at the last one.
"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I miss you. ~Your boyfriend, Yamashita."
I hugged the flowers tightly all the way home. As we entered our apartment my Mother put the other flowers on the table and got me a glass of water. "Mom, stop. I'm sure you haven't had proper sleep, so go to bed. I'll have some water then I'll head to bed."
"I'm sorry baby."
"Mama, thank you." I bowed to her, then gave her a tight hug.
She closed her door room and I stood in our small living room. I stood there for a second before I pulled out my phone and went to my room. I had to hear his voice. As the phone rang I felt nervous. 'He might be mad....He'll probably be asleep.....' I was about to hang up but he answered.
"Hello! Miya?" He sounded surprised, happy, and worried all at once.
"H-hai...I'm...I'm sorry, but can I...I want to see you!"
"Okay, I'm coming."
I hung up and clutched the phone tightly to my chest. I was so happy.
----------------
I waited on the stairs that led to our apartment. Soon, I saw him park on the other side of the street. He ran to me and quickly held me in his arms. His scent surrounded me, making it feel like we've been apart for such a long time. I grabbed the back of his shirt as he squeezed my lower back. I could feel his face burried in my neck.
"I'm...I'm s-so sorry I missed the rest..... of your concert...and calling you...it's so late...I--"
"Baka." I could feel his lips move on my neck. "None of that matters. I'll always come for you when you call." He breathed heavily and squeezed tighter.
After the long embrace we sat on the stairs and talked.
"So what happened exactly? I just remember Rina talking..."
"Well, the staff member who took the mic from you noticed that you didn't look well. So she kept an eye on you. As you fell she called over some more staff members. They grabbed you and ran you out of the stadium, followed by my sister."
"What about the fans?"
"It was dark in there, so Only those who were around you saw what happened." He took a deep breath then released it. "I looked up and suddenly I couldn't see you. Soon, someone spoke in my ear saying that you fell and that they were taking you to the hospitol."
He raised his legs so he could put his arms on them and cover his face. "I wanted to run after you...for a split second I didn't care about the concert....but..I stayed. I'm sorry."
"You shouldn't say your sorry." I clasped my hands together and smiled. "You've got priority to your agency, to NEWS and to your fans. I'm glad you didn't leave. I understand, so don't feel bad about it, Okay?"
He turned towards me and as he was about to say something my stomach growled. I quickly looked down at my stomach and grabbed it. I nervously laughed, "I guess I'm pretty hungry..." He laughed at me. "Want to come inside?"
I walked to the kitchen, opened the rice pot and started to make some riceballs. "Do you want any?"
He sat against the wall, "No thanks. I see you got our flowers." He reached out and touched one of the flowers
"Mm! I've got to thank the other guys. It made me happy."
I sat next to him, turned on the TV and started eating. It was nice that we could watch TV together. The day's news was replaying, seeing it was late in the night. "It was reported that Shinta, Miya, the young woman dating Yamapi, is getting more and more news as she had passed out at the NEWS' first concert of their concert tour. We talked to the doctor who treated her and this is what he had to say." The screen changed to show the doctor that had discharged me. "At the present time Miss Shinta is in good health. It seems that she had an alergic reaction to something she ate, but She is recovering quickly."
"So..the press was all over it..." Before I could make any more comments the screen changed back to the woman news anchor.
"We also talked to some fans returning home from the concert."
It cut to different fans. "She got hurt? Really? Well get better!" "Get well soon!" "Get better!"
I finished my food and smiled. "Hehe I have supporters." I looked at Yamashita-kun and saw that he was looking at me. I quickly looked away and blushed. "Umm.. ah!" I let out a small gasp as he pulled me in between his legs and onto his chest. He chuckled, "At this rate, you'll have more fans than me." "Never! I'm not as good looking, and don't have the sex appeal like you do." We laughed.
As his laughed slowed to a stop I put my head on his chest and could hear his heart beat. It was so soothing and calm. It felt like it was singing to me. My eyes got heavy as I soon fell asleep.
He looked down and could hear my quite breathing. "How can you just fall asleep on me? Ah~ so embarrassing..." Yamashita-kun breathed in through his teeth and picked me up princess style.
-----------------------
I woke up to a bright sun in my face. I blinked a few times then squirmed around under my blankets. I sat up slowly and pushed my tangled hair out of my face. "Ya-yamashita-kun?" I looked around, and of course he wasn't there. But a note by my cell phone caught my eyes. I reached over to my desk to grab the paper.
I read what was on the paper, "Wake up sleepy head! =) No matter how much I wanted to, I'm sorry I couldn't be there when you woke up. So to make up for it, I left you some presents. 1. Open your phone to look at your pictures and 2. Send me a mail. I'll call you once I get it. ~Yamashita-kun"
I opened my phone and clicked over to my pictures. I started laughing as I saw the new editions. There was one where he closed his eyes, smiled and poked his cheek. Another one with a thumbs up, one with a peace sign, the cutest one of him-he had puckered his lips to the camera. I suddenly stopped giggling as I clicked to the next picture. In the picture, he leaned over me and was kissing me. I covered my face as I blushed. I quickly looked at it again then blushed some more. I placed my hand on my lips, "I don't remember that!"
I looked back at his note, "Send me a text message...Okay..." I left the screen of pictures and clicked over to send him a text message. > You're so embarrassing! >///< Remind me to take pictures with your phone ^o^ < "Send! ....so embarrassing..."
I stood up and decided to get out of my clothes. I had been wearing them all night. I walked over to my dresser and pulled out some baggy shorts and a tank top. After I was in much more comfortable clothes I opened my closet door then walked into my bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I looked into the mirror as I brushed the knots out of my hair. "I need to eat after this. I'm starving!" I stopped half way of brushing my hair as I heard my phone ringing with an unfamiliar ring tone.
"~Yamapi will always take care of Miya-chan~~ because Yamapi likes Miya-chan the most! The most!! Ahh~ this is embarrassing...~~ Yamapi will always take care of Miya-chan..."
I couldn't stop the big smile that formed. I answered happily. "Hello?"
"Ah~good morning..."
"Mmm, Thank you."
"Your welcome."
I soon heard Tegoshi in the background. "Let me talk to her! I need to ask her something!"
"Go away!" I heard Yamashita-kun say. "Massuuu! Help me! AHh~ Massu Massu!"
I stayed on the line, happily listening to them on the other side.
--------------
After about 10 minutes I hung up with Yamashita-kun, because he said that I need to eat. Even though I knew I need to I put up a fight. But what can you do?
I quickly finished brushing my hair, then dialed my dad's number and waited for him to answer as I looked around in the fridge. "Ah, hello? Daddy?"
"Miya! I'm happy you called me. Are you okay? What did the doctor say? Is it bad?"
"Calm down, calm down! I'm fine. The doctor said that I had an alergic attack to some food I ate. That's all." I took out some eggs and veggies.
"Are you eating now?"
"Yes, I'm gonna cook some breakfast now."
"Okay well I told your Mom that I was going to pay the hospitol bill, so you two don't need to worry about that."
"Dad...thank you."
"Don't thank me sweety. I'm still your parent too, aren't I? If anything else happens let me know."
I heard his other phone ringing. "I'll let you go. I'm sure that's a client looking to have dinner."
"Ah, you know me too well. I love you, and get some rest."
"Love you too."
As I hung up my Mom's room door opened. "Good morning sleepy bear! Did you sleep well? What about work?" Whenever I get done talking to my Dad I seem to stay talking English for a bit. My mom scratched her head as she walked to me and put her hand on my forehead. "I took today off. Are you feeling okay?"
"Yeah Mama, I'm fine. Just hungry." I smiled as I started cutting up the veggies. She pushed me aside and started cutting. "I'll cook Okay? You still need to take it easy. But I know you'll feel restless so You can start a load of laundry."
I laughed, she knew me well. I grabbed my phone again and started mailing Rina. > Hey Rina! I'm sorry for causing so much trouble, thanks of course. I'm better now d ^_< I hope your plane ride was good. ^o^b Call me when you get back, okay? < "Send!"
---------------------------------------
The rest of vacation was perfect. I'll never forget this first summer with Yamashita-kun. I was able to watch a whole concert without problems.
